ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION: BEATING IMPOSTER SYNDROME

Entrepreneurs' Forum Entrepreneurs' Forum

Ever feel like you’re ‘winging it’? Like your underqualified for your role? Or maybe not a “real” entrepreneur?

If yes, you’re not alone – with surveys reporting that most people experience imposter syndrome at some point in their career, it’s clearly an issue many of us face and yet, there are many real and tangible consequences if you choose to simply ignore it.

In our round table discussion led by Dr David Cliff of Gedanken, we’ll explore imposter syndrome in more detail, focusing on why you feel it and how to combat it.

Our round tables are shaped by your views and experience, so while we hope to cover the topics above, we may discuss other subjects related to imposter syndrome during the session.

About our host

Dr David Cliff is the Managing Director of Gedanken which provides consultancy, coaching, team and leadership development for businesses, public services and individuals. One of the longest BACP senior accredited counsellor/psychotherapists in the country, David thrives on using his decades of experience, including senior management posts across the public and private sectors, to help to make a difference to the lives and careers of others.

As a mental health professional, amongst his many talents, David believes that good workplaces involve not only great support services for staff but also involve entrepreneurs taking responsibility for their own development blending high challenge with high support on their own journey.

He has a particular interest in looking at what inhibits performance and prevents the development of personal and leadership identity within the individual, such as self-sabotage, entrepreneurial isolation and imposter syndrome.
